TURBT

Introduction

Turbt1

It is a type of closed surgery during which the doctor removes the bladder tumor using a tube-shaped device called a cystoscope. After this operation, the patient will usually (depending on the doctor's opinion) have a catheter for 24-48 hours, the purpose of which is to wash the bladder and prevent urinary retention.

Post-operative training

Urinary irritation usually improves 2-3 days after removing the urethral catheter .

Up to a week after removing the catheter, the urine may be a little bloody .

Up to two weeks after the operation, the reappearance of blood in the urine, which may be accompanied by extraneous substances such as some tissue or bladder tissue, is normal and occurs after the healing process of the wound .

3. You can take a shower with a urethral catheter and bladder (unless the treating doctor advises otherwise).

4. Make sure that the catheter is open and the urine drains into the bladder.

5. Make sure that the catheter is not twisted or blocked .

6. Take care of the place where the catheter enters the duct in terms of inflammation or other signs of infection, such as yellow and purulent discharge, swelling, redness, etc.

7. Always keep the urinary bag lower than the level of the bladder so that the urine can be drained easily (especially while sleeping (avoid the sudden stretching of the catheter).

8. Avoid rubbing lotions, creams and powders around the urethra at the catheter insertion site .
