Laryngectomy is a surgical procedure in which a person's larynx is removed. The larynx is the beginning of the airway and is located in front of the neck, where the vocal cords that produce sound are located. There are two different types of laryngectomy:
1- Incomplete

Complete laryngectomy is usually performed in laryngeal cancers and after that the person is unable to speak. To correct this defect, special sound amplification devices are used and in incomplete laryngectomy a part of the larynx is removed and in complete laryngectomy the whole larynx of the person is removed.
